Knowing the latest scam can mean the difference between your money or identity being stolen or not. One of the latest scams that is making a comeback is the IRS scam. These scammers will call your phone, often multiple times, trying to convince you that you owe them thousands of dollars in back taxes. The IRS DOES NOT contact you like this. The IRS will mail you before they ever call you on the phone. The scammers also demand that you pay them in gift cards, something the real IRS would never do. If you think you do owe taxes, hang up the phone and call the number the IRS gives on their website. That way, you can know for sure that you are talking to them.
