Jay's Interest: March 2017

Boy, after watching The Oscar’s last night, it makes me feel really good to know that we live in a country that when it comes right down to it, we always make sure that whoever gets the most votes always ends up the…oh never mind.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think it’s more than a little ironic that the Ringling Bros. Circus announced that it was going out of business at almost the exact time Donald Trump took office?? It’s almost as if they knew that there simply wasn’t room for another circus in this country….

Mark your calendars for March 8th, as there will be THREE ribbon-cuttings in Malvern on that day. Club 321 (already up to 110 members), Kohll’s Pharmacy (their new building is beautiful), and the new ReMax office (relocating from Glenwood) will all be showing off their new digs and rumor has it that Channel 7 will be coming down to take it all in. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – there is no town our size in the state of Iowa that has more going on than we do right now. And we’re still not done….

I just learned the other day that if you’re stuck in a sinking car, take off your headrest and use the metal part to break out your car’s windows.  I really don’t have anything clever to add to this, but the next time you see a flash flood warning pop up on the TV, you’re going to remember this newsletter.

And finally, I was listening to Casey Kasem’s Top 40 Countdown last weekend from 1974 and one of the songs really brought back some memories. Remember “The Streak” by Ray Stevens?? For all of the youngsters reading this, it was a song about a guy who was trying to keep his wife Ethel (“Don’t Look Ethel!”) from seeing a streaker running around. Unfortunately, he was always a little too late – she had already looked. Obviously, the best part is at the end of the song when Ethel joins the streaker and starts running around naked herself.  I highly recommend that you go on YouTube or iTunes and listen to this song because it truly encapsulates a much simpler time in our country when people made their social statements by simply running around with no clothes. I think it’s time to Make America Streak Again!!

Until next time….

Jay
